Hi Michelle. I am new to talk Irish and have just stared using the audio for my i-pod. I also have ordered the book from amazon.com because I am a very visual kind of learner. I was just wondering if there is anything else I should be using to learn? I have never learned a language this difficult! Any help from you or any other members I would very much so appreciate, I have just begun but seem to be lost already!

    Thanks

    Kam

    Hi Kam,

Fáilte chuig Labhair Gaeilge (welcome to Talk Irish).

Did you know you can listen to the audio on your iPod and see the lyrics at the same time? Like you, I'm a visual learner so I find hearing the audio and seeing the text is very important.

I think my favourite way to learn is with text, audio and images - which is why I love our new course! You can try the first lesson online for free:

My best advice to you on learning Irish is to let go of the thought that it's hard or difficult. That can be a really big block to learning. Instead focus on starting from the start - the very first Buntús Cainte lesson is a great place to start. And stay on that lesson until you've really cracked it. Then move on slowly after that.

I know I try to go too fast with my Irish and get disheartened - and that's bad because so much of language learning is about confidence, enjoyment and fun!

Tóg go bóg é (take it easy) and you'll get there quicker!

    Slán anois,

    Michelle

Hey Aoife - how many times have you tapped? I think you have to tap several times on the iPod Touch to cycle through the album art, the song titles etc before you get the lyrics. Let me know if this works - if not we'll try something else.

    Ádh mór ort,

    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

I have tried it 4-5 times but nothing. the next screen is the lessons and I tried tapping on that one too but nothing. Any other suggestions and if not I will drop by the Apple store and see if they know - it may be a setting that I have set or not turned on? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

    Thx, Aoife.

    Aoife,

Can I check one last thing with you? What file type did you download when you purchased Buntús Cainte? The lyrics are embedded in the MP3 files only - so if you've downloaded the ACC or other versions, they won't work. Check to see if you've got the MP3 files. If not, let me know and I'll send you a download code so you can access them.

    GRMA,
    Michelle
