I was at a meeting last night in which I was asked to lead the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterwards, I was curious how the pledge would read in Irish. I suspect it has probably been done before, but I thought I would take a crack at it, just for fun. Here's what I came up with (English version first):
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and
to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Tugaim gealtanas don
bhratach Na Stát Aontaithe Mheiriceá, agus is comhartha ar an
Phoblacht, is aon naisiún amháin é, faoi Dia, doroinnte, le saoirse
agus ceart ar dhuine ar bith
Any comments, corrections, questions, discussion is welcome......
