    Irish accent/dialect help!

I’ve just recently started learning Irish and I’m running into a problem/dilemma. Many of the sources that I’m using will often give multiple examples or ways to say different phrases based on the dialect of Irish (i.e Ulster, Connacht or Munster). I know a bit of spoken Irish already from my great grandma who came from a small town (Ballynacally) southwest of Ennis Co. Clare. This happens to be exactly in between the two dialect groups Connacht and Munster. I was wondering if anyone happened to know to which dialect (Connacht or Munster ) the Irish spoken there (around Ennis or Co. Clare in general) belongs. I haven’t the slightest clue when it comes to written Irish so I can’t tell for myself which dialect I speak in/am already familiar with. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Re: Irish accent/dialect help!

As far as I know Clare had its own seperate dialect. Not Conamara nor Munster. It was a mixture of the two, but more closely related to Conamara Irish.

The closest you can find today is the Irish spoken on Inis Oírr.
