But of course! That sounds right. It's all somewhere in my brain! If I said 'Fan le do ghrá' am I right in thinking that would be 'Wait for your love/beloved'? Go raibh maith agat! Slán.

Fan normally takes the preposition le - you wait with someone in Irish instead of for them. And Irish usually puts an article before words like love, death, hope.

I would write it like this: Fan leis an ghrá. Literally, this means wait with the love. In southern dialects if would be 'fan leis an ngrá.'

I think that this is correct. However, better for someone else to check it before you continue. I did all my schooling through Irish but that is many years' ago! That's why I've joined this website. I want to refresh my native language. Slán!

I visited Ireland for the first time a few months ago and loved it, I'm trying to make a piece of jewelry for a friend and need an Irish translation, but don't want to rely on Google.
