Can I check one last thing with you? What file type did you download when you purchased Buntús Cainte? The lyrics are embedded in the MP3 files only - so if you've downloaded the ACC or other versions, they won't work. Check to see if you've got the MP3 files. If not, let me know and I'll send you a download code so you can access them.

Fáilte chuig Labhair Gaeilge (welcome to Talk Irish).

Did you know you can listen to the audio on your iPod and see the lyrics at the same time? Like you, I'm a visual learner so I find hearing the audio and seeing the text is very important.

http://talkirish.com/irishcourse/userguide.aspx

I think my favourite way to learn is with text, audio and images - which is why I love our new course! You can try the first lesson online for free:

http://talkirish.com/online_irish_course/

My best advice to you on learning Irish is to let go of the thought that it's hard or difficult. That can be a really big block to learning. Instead focus on starting from the start - the very first Buntús Cainte lesson is a great place to start. And stay on that lesson until you've really cracked it. Then move on slowly after that.

I know I try to go too fast with my Irish and get disheartened - and that's bad because so much of language learning is about confidence, enjoyment and fun!

Tóg go bóg é (take it easy) and you'll get there quicker!

Slán anois,

Michelle

I am new to talk Irish and have just stared using the audio for my i-pod. I also have ordered the book from amazon.com because I am a very visual kind of learner. I was just wondering if there is anything else I should be using to learn? I have never learned a language this difficult! Any help from you or any other members I would very much so appreciate, I have just begun but seem to be lost already!

Greatwestroad,

Thanks for your query - I've put our lovely designer on the job of creating a lesson list for free download on the site ASAP.

The lesson list will take a while to build, as we're creating it along with a brief description of what's covered as part of our online course (have you seen the free lesson at http://talkirish.com/online_irish_course/ ?).

With hindsight, I do agree that it's obvious that we should have descriptive lesson titles in the MP3 course - but I have to say, while we were doing all the work to get the course digitised, proofed and ready for distribution, we missed that! There's always something

When we release Buntús Cainte parts 2 and 3 for MP3, I'll release an updated version of part 1, with descriptive lesson titles. Of course we'll send anyone who has already purchased Buntús Cainte Part 1 a free download for Part 1, so you can simply upgrade. However, this won't be available until early 2010.

Hope this is useful! Keep the suggestions and feedback coming - everything helps to shape the products we're working on at the moment, and helps us upgrade what we've already produced.

However... Hopefully I'm missing something, but my question is:

Is there any way of knowing the content of each lesson other than going into each one? Could the titles not have given this as an indication, rather than just saying "Lesson 1" etc? Or could not a list be put up on this site somewhere? OK, I can go into each lesson and draw up my own list, but it would be kind of nice (and if you'll excuse me, obvious) to have the proper titles of each lesson displayed right there in my iPhone screen, rather than cart around a hard-copy list with me.

Like I said, I hope I've missed something!

Wanted to share the solution to my similar problem. I mistakenly thought that I could use the MP3 version of Buntus Cainte on my computer like the free trial. But Michelle clarified that it must be synced and used on the iPod or similar device. I now see the text and hear the audio on my iPod, by clicking the center button a bit till the text appears. Maybe there is a more expensive version for use on the computer to have interactive lessons like the trial versions.
